| File Description | FLAC is an open-source audio format that is mainly developed by Josh Coalson. Its goal is to get lossless audio compression, which means FLAC should stay archival quality and be truly lossless for all input. FLAC comes with several tools. One of the useful tools is metaflac - to create a FLAC fingerprint file, which contains the checksum and filename information for a FLAC file. When you double click FLAC files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected FLAC file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open FLAC files on WindowsRight-click on the FLAC file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the FLAC file opener. If you decide to always open FLAC files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open FLAC files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of FLAC files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your FLAC file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default FLAC file opener app.
