| File Description | JFIF is a JPEG encoded file format that aims to ease data transferring between multiple platforms and applications - so-called JPEG-JFIF. JFIF files are compliant with the previous JPEG Interchange Format (JIF) standard and solves some of JIF's limitations of data interchange. The newer EXIF standard includes almost all the features of the JFIF standard, however, the EXIF and JFIF standards are incompatible formally. Fortunately, many programs and digital cameras produce files could include correct EXIF and JFIF information at the same time, but poorly designed JFIF or Exif parsers may not recognise the file properly. |

When you double click JFIF files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected JFIF file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open JFIF files on WindowsRight-click on the JFIF file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the JFIF file opener. If you decide to always open JFIF files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open JFIF files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of JFIF files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your JFIF file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default JFIF file opener app.
