| File Description | PFM is the binary version of AFM (Adobe Font Metrics) which contains font information and font metrics information for the font program. A PFM file requires an associated .PFB file for the font. It helps the font included in the PFB file to be displayed correctly. To install PFM/PFB fonts in Windows 7, do the following: 1. Copy the PFM and PFB files to the C:\Windows\Fonts\ directory. 2. Right-click the PFM file, and select "Install" from the list. 3. You can then view the font with the Microsoft Windows Font Viewer in the \Windows\Fonts\ folder. You can also open it by typing "font" in the Windows Start menu search box and choosing "View installed fonts" from the result list. To install PFB/PFM fonts on Mac, you can tranfer to Mac compatible format first using Transtype. |

When you double click PFM files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected PFM file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open PFM files on WindowsRight-click on the PFM file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the PFM file opener. If you decide to always open PFM files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open PFM files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of PFM files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your PFM file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default PFM file opener app.
