| File Description | PSP is the native Paint Shop Pro format to save images, which may include layers, vector paths, metadata, and other objects. Paint Shop Pro, often referred to as "PSP," is the main competitor to Adobe Photoshop (which uses the .PSD format). Paint Shop Pro comes with similar features to Photoshop, but at a much lower price. Don't confused with the famous game console called PlayStation Portable by Sony Corporation. Like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro was also other company, and later was acquired by Corel in 2004. Different from Photoshop which has both Windows and Mac version, Paint Shop Pro only works on Windows. |

When you double click PSP files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected PSP file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open PSP files on WindowsRight-click on the PSP file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the PSP file opener. If you decide to always open PSP files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open PSP files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of PSP files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your PSP file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default PSP file opener app.
