| File Description | RM is a propierty container format developed by RealNetworks and used to stream video and audio over Internet. It's usually played by RealPlayer also created by RealNetworks. Typically RM files are in CBR (constant bitrate). On the contrary, a container for VBR (variable bitrate) streams, named RMVB was also developed by RealNetworks but mainly used to store video files locally. |

When you double click RM files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected RM file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open RM files on WindowsRight-click on the RM file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the RM file opener. If you decide to always open RM files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open RM files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of RM files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your RM file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default RM file opener app.
