File Description | RLE is a common image format used in early versions of Windows software. It uses the famous Run Length Encoding method to store graphics. A .DIB file is a typical file format that uses Run-length encoding compression. The Run Length Encoding is the native compression used by the Utah Raster Toolkit for managing bitmap images. It is a very simple form of data compression in which the same data value occurs in many consecutive data elements are stored as a single data value and count, rather than as the original run. |

When you double click RLE files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected RLE file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open RLE files on WindowsRight-click on the RLE file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the RLE file opener. If you decide to always open RLE files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'. b) Select another application to open RLE files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of RLE files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your RLE file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default RLE file opener app. |
