File Description | SGI, similar to RGB format, is the native graphics format used by Silicon Graphics workstations. SGI images contain 3 colour channels and can store 8 to 32 bits per pixel. The Run-length encoding (RLE) compression may be used to reduce the image file size. Other similar Silicon Graphics Image file extensions include .rgb, .rgba, .bw, .int, and .inta. |

When you double click SGI files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected SGI file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open SGI files on WindowsRight-click on the SGI file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the SGI file opener. If you decide to always open SGI files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'. b) Select another application to open SGI files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of SGI files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your SGI file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default SGI file opener app. |
