File Description | DIB is a common Windows or OS/2 bitmap image format developed by Microsoft. It's similar to a .BMP file, but has a different header that specifies its parameters. DIB files supports 1, 4, 8, and 24 bits per pixel in uncompressed DIB image, and 4 and 8 bits per pixel in DIB images with RLE (Run-Length Encoding) compression. The main purpose of DIB file format is to allow bitmaps to be moved from one device to another. A DIB is normally transported in metafiles, BMP files, and the Clipboard files. |
