| File Description | JNG is an image container format that uses the PNG file structure (with a different signature) to wrap JPEG compressed image data. Unlike .PNG, JNG uses lossy data compression like standard .JPG files. JNG is developed as an adjunct to MNG (Multiple-image Network Graphics) format for animated image, but can also be used as a standalone format. Different from tandard JPEG files, JNG files may include an optional alpha channel for transparency. They may also contain ancillary information for color space and comments. When you double click JNG files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected JNG file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open JNG files on WindowsRight-click on the JNG file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the JNG file opener. If you decide to always open JNG files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open JNG files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of JNG files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your JNG file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default JNG file opener app.
