| File Description | MPC is an audio file format that stores audio with Musepack audio compression. Musepack encoders and decoders are based on MPEG-1 Layer II (MP2) codec, but many features have been added, including subband selectable M/S encoding, a wide range of variable bitrates between 0 and 1300 kbit/s, noise substitution techniques, etc. MPC is not as popular as MP3 compression, but tested to have better quality sound at standard bitrate (175-185 kbit/s), and also performs well at both lower and higher bitrates. |

When you double click MPC files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected MPC file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure. a) Select a program to open MPC files on WindowsRight-click on the MPC file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the MPC file opener. If you decide to always open MPC files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open MPC files on MacFirst Get Info about any one of MPC files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your MPC file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default MPC file opener app.
