.PCT File Format
Filename extension for PICT file format. PICT, originated with QuickDraw, is used as the standard metafile format. It contains image data in one of two formats: PICT 1, the original format that stores 8 colors, or PICT 2, a newer format that allows thousands of colors (24 and 32-bit images. PICT allows the interchange between raster and vector images.
While PICT images usually have the .PICT file extension on Macintosh computers, they typically are seen with a PCT extension in Windows. The PICT format has mostly been replaced by the more flexible .PDF format on Mac OSX.

How to select a program to open PCT files?
When you double click PCT files on computer, the associated program will be launched to open the selected PCT file. But you can change it to any program at your pleasure.
a) Select a program to open PCT files on Windows
Right-click on the PCT file and go through 'Open with' > 'Choose default program'. In the pop-up windows, choose a program as the PCT file opener. If you decide to always open PCT files with the program, only check the option 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'.
b) Select another application to open PCT files on Mac
First Get Info about any one of PCT files by right-clicking or Command-I, and click 'Open with' arrow to choose a program to start your PCT file. Click 'Change All' button to set the selected application as the default PCT file opener app.
